13-year-old girl dies after man crashes car into crowd

A man has been charged with murder after a 13-year-old girl was fatally hit by a car near Mount Isa on Saturday morning.

Around 2 a.m., police responded to reports of a “major disturbance” involving multiple people on Delacour Drive in the pioneer town.

Police say a 52-year-old local man drove his car into the crowd and attacked a 13-year-old girl.

She suffered serious head injuries and died on the spot.

The man allegedly driving the car has been charged with murder.

He is scheduled to appear in the Mount Isa Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
