A destructive waterspout approaches Maryland’s Smith Island

Local reports said a tornado turned into a tornado to hit Smith Island, Maryland, on Thursday, August 4, damaging multiple homes. Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan said a damage assessment team was on the scene and the state “will provide full resources … to assist in the response.” This footage shows a waterspout approaching a remote island. The island has fewer than 300 inhabitants and is only accessible by boat or helicopter.
