Adam Serra’s long kick down the line was punched high in the air by Brisbane’s Daniel Rich, while Lions teammate Callum Ah Chi camped underneath.

As the ball came down, Cripps came in at 100 mph and flew off the deck, flattening Achie with a bad hip and shoulder.

The impact of the hit flattened Achie on the surface of the Gabba, causing several Lions teammates to protest with Crips.

Medical staff rushed to Ah Chee’s side.

To make matters worse for his next date with Cripps and the Match Review Panel, Archie was ejected from the game with a concussion and Mitch Robinson took his place.

Collingwood’s Brayden Maynard was sidelined for two weeks after a similar shock to GWS’s Daniel Lloyd earlier in the year.

“It’s a tough one to watch,” former Carlton star Eddie Betts said on Fox Footy.

Carlton’s place in the final is on the line, currently sitting seventh on the ladder, one game behind ninth-placed St Kilda.
