With all eyes on Sam Reed and his injury, Hayden McLean looks poised to win a deal with McDonald’s.

Nine news reporter Braden Ingram was the first to report the heartbreaking news for Swans youth.

However, McDonald could be named in the side as a stand-in if Red is deemed unfit to play, or as a medical stand-in.

“Hayden McLean gearing up for an extraordinary Grand Finals call-up…I’m hearing Logan McDonald looms as the Swans’ unlucky man. If dropped, or Sam Reed He can get reprieve as a medical sub even if he doesn’t show up,” Ingram wrote.

McDonald was selected by the Swans in the 2020 draft and has appeared in a total of 17 games this season.

Geelong fans are nervously awaiting the team’s announcement, and young star Max Holmes faces a race against time to prove his fitness.

Holmes was prolific in the qualifying final, but appeared to pull a hamstring in the third quarter.

He was ejected from the game and looked certain to miss Saturday’s Grand Finals, but remains in the selection slot.

Teams will be announced at 6:20pm (AEST).
