After the pub closes at 10 pm, crowds gather at Piccadilly Circus in London
Pubs across London closed at 10 pm under measures to curb the spread of the coronavirus, and crowds were seen gathering at Piccadilly Circus late October 10. All pubs, bars, restaurants and hospitality facilities in the UK must close at 10 pm, subject to regulations that have been in force since late September, allowing crowds to spill into the streets during closing times. Elsewhere in London that same night, people were seen enjoying a cricket match on the streets of Peckham after the pub closed. The government has been accused of not thinking about the effects of the curfew. Opposition leader Keir Starmer said in an interview with the BBC on October 9 that the curfew wasn’t working as expected, but his party voted against the government to end the restrictions. Said not.
