A man has been charged and another is in critical condition after being struck by the sun outside a shopping street in western Sydney on Sunday.
Police were called to Sheffield Street, Marylands around 3:30 pm and found a 35-year-old man with multiple stab wounds.
When paramedics arrived, he was bleeding profusely and went into cardiac arrest. After paramedics stabilized him, they took him to Westmead Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Witnesses told Nine News that as the man was crossing the street, two men dressed in black approached him and stabbed him repeatedly before kicking him in the head.
A critical care team, including doctors and paramedics, was nearby and able to provide advanced care on site.
Following an inquiry, police arrested a 31-year-old man at his nearby William Street home.
He was taken to the Granville Police Department and charged with causing serious bodily harm with intent to murder.
He was denied bail and is scheduled to appear in Fairfield District Court on Monday, where police claim the men know each other.
Police are urging anyone with information that might help the investigation to contact them.
