Apple announces four new iPhones with 5G capabilities

Apple today announced a new fleet of iPhones in a variety of shades, sizes, and features, all with 5G capabilities and an A14 Bionic processor.

Today, at a virtual event in Cupertino, four devices were announced: iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max.

The back of every device features a new MagSafe mechanism that provides powerful wireless charging and opens the door to an ecosystem of third-party accessories.

To reduce carbon dioxide emissions, Apple has removed the power adapter and EarPods from all iPhone packages.

iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max

These two premium products feature the largest edge-to-edge Super Retina XDR display ever on the iPhone, with 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch displays for Pro and Pro Max, respectively.

iPhone Pro Max offers the largest display ever on the iPhone, leveraging an OLED display that reaches nearly 3.5 million pixels and has a peak brightness of 1200 knits.

The latest A14 Bionic processor enables an end-to-end Dolby Vision video viewing experience at up to 60fps.

Both models feature an enhanced camera system with an A14 Bionic chip.
The triple camera array on the back of the device is back. It features wide, ultra-wide, and telephoto cameras, as well as a LiDAR depth detection scanner that can measure the distance of light and use pixel depth information for the scene.

Both iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max have a 16-core neural engine along with a Bionic chip. This improves performance by 80% and can perform 11 trillion operations per second.

Both devices come in four stainless steel finishes, including graphite, silver, gold and Pacific Blue, and come with 128 GB, 256 GB and 512 GB local storage.

iPhone 12 starts at NZ $ 1,899 and iPhone 12 Pro Max starts at $ 2,099.

iPhone 12 and 12 mini

These two products, the new standard editions of the latest generation of iPhones, are functionally the same, with the only difference being the smaller size of the mini.

It features an end-to-end Super Retina XDR display and a ceramic-shielded front cover for added durability and drop protection. It also includes an A134 Bionic processor and a dual camera system.

The iPhone 12 has a 6.1-inch display, and the mini has a compact 5.4-inch screen. These displays offer a contrast ratio of 2 million to 1 for a true black and HDR viewing experience.

The iPhone 12 is 11% thinner than its predecessor and comes in five finishes: blue, green, black, white and red.

Both phones are available with 64GB, 128GB, or 256GB of storage, starting at $ 1,499 for the iPhone 12 and $ 1,349 for the iPhone 12 mini.
