More than 70 firefighters fight factory fire in west Sydney

Emergency services were called to the Star Combo Pharma facility in Smithfield at 2:00 pm after reports of large amounts of smoke leaking from the building.

Firefighters and a key incident management team were on site tonight as the fire smoldered.

No one was inside at the time of the outbreak, but residents of nearby Greystan were warned to stay indoors and avoid the area for fear of inhaling the smoke.

Local road closures have been implemented.

The company manufactures and ships pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, vitamins and nutritional supplements domestically and globally.

It is believed to have completed a multi-million dollar factory upgrade to meet global demand.
