Penny won ‘quietly changed’ Australia’s attitude towards Israel and its capital

Sky News host Chris Kenny said Foreign Minister Penny Wong had “quietly changed” Australia’s attitude towards Israel and its capital.

Under the Morrison government, Australia followed the US in recognizing West Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

Kenny said Labor “never liked” the previous government’s decision, and on Monday people noticed they “quietly removed” some words from the Foreign Office’s website.

“It was only after these deletions that these words were removed from the DFAT website and it became publicly known. Then Penny Wong came out and confirmed the change,” he said. Mr Kenny said.

“Was politics involved in the Morrison administration’s initial decisions?

“It was a solid sign of support for Israel.”
