The trial of Bruce Lehrmann – the man accused of raping former Liberal staffer Brittany Higgins – will begin on October 4.
Bruce Lehrmann’s trial was set to begin in the ACT Supreme Court next week, but that date was postponed due to publicity generated by journalist Lisa Wilkinson during a recent Logies speech.
Lawyer’s for Mr Lehrmann asked to have the case heard next year, but the Chief Justice said it was her view that a three-month delay would give enough distance to prevent prejudice of a potential jury.
Mr Lehrmann, a former Liberal staffer, has denied allegations he raped Ms Higgins at Parliament House.
