China fuels ‘lack of trust’ with neighbors

Shadow Defense Secretary Andrew Hasty said China’s reaction to US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan was “deeply concerning”.

“Launching a missile near Taiwan is actually a big escalation,” he told Sky News host Chris Kenney.

Hastie said that over the past decade, China has had a “trust deficit” with its neighbors, which “has given rise to authoritarian forces.”

“I think this kind of behavior does nothing to build trust between nations and is concerning. This is definitely an escalation of what we have seen. “

“We want peace and it is just and appropriate to ask China to stop these activities.”
