Disney musical movie slammed for promoting racial stereotypes
The Disney musical movie ‘Zombies’ has been criticised by scholars for promoting racial stereotypes despite the film endorsing diversity and inclusion, says Sky News host James Macpherson.
A pair of scholars have criticised Disney’s ‘Zombies’ musical trilogy that’s aimed at young adults for promoting whiteness and harmful racial stereotypes.
“It’s actually designed to promote diversity and inclusion, it’s about a zombie who is pursued by a blonde girl a normal human being and she falls in love with him and so this is about opening our arms to others and including them,” Mr Macpherson said.
“An academic has said no, no it promotes racial stereotypes because the zombies, they live in the inner city whereas the human blonde, she lives in the suburbs.
“It seems to me the show’s not promoting racial stereotypes; this academic is promoting racial stereotypes.”
