Firefighters tackle fast-growing wildfires in eastern Spain
The Vezis wildfire burning in eastern Spain spread to more than 73 square miles (19,000 hectares) overnight on August 19, reports El Pais. According to local emergency services, the fire spread rapidly on the southern flank around the Cueva Santa Monastery near Altura. The service said the fire progressed more slowly in other areas. Footage posted by local firefighters shows ground and air efforts to contain the spread of fire near Altura on August 18.
