France’s new COVID-19 cases and increased death toll

Paris: French health officials reported on Tuesday that there were 12,993 new COVID-19 infections in the last 24 hours, up from 8,505 on Monday, but well below 26,896 on Saturday and 16,101 on Sunday.

However, the 7-day moving average of the new infection, which averages weekly data reporting irregularities, exceeded the record 17,000 level of 17,816 for the second consecutive day.

French President Emmanuel Macron may hold a press conference on Wednesday to announce new measures such as a curfew to contain the disease.

The number of French people who died from COVID-19 infection increased by 117 from 95 on Monday to 32,942. Currently, the cumulative number of cases is 756,472 in total.
