Great Northern Beer celebrates 10th birthday at Cairns pub Rattle’n’Hum
“Beer from here” went around to slide down the esophagus of thanks to the man who poured the first schooner 10 years ago.
The rise of the Great Northern Brewing Co has been astounding since Rattle’n’Hum owner Jon Hasler broke the world’s first barrel in 2010.
Brand ambassador Outback Wrangler star Matt Wright and General Manager of the Great Northern Brewing Company, Ian Giles, returned to the Cairns Esplanade Pub on Tuesday to celebrate the decade of great growth that all began.

Hustler wouldn’t have imagined how popular beer would be.
“We sell it 3 to 1 to all other brands. It was incredible,” he said.
“It’s easy to drink. It’s a phenomenon.”
Great Northern is brewed in Yatara, but is based on the Cairns Draft, the signature beer of the Cairns Brewery, which operated from 1924 to 1992.
Its famous marlin logo is a throwback to its predecessor.
