High vegetable costs will ‘continue for some time yet’

AUSVEG National Public Affairs Manager Tyson Cattle says with vegetable growers struggling to plant crops and prices at the supermarket going up, “it’s going to be some time” until there is any “real normalcy”.

“The Lockyer Valley that grows a whole range of fresh vegetables across the region has been decimated by floods and heavy rain for the better part of the last three months,” Mr Cattle told Sky News host Chris Smith.

“It’s across the board and it’s going to continue for some time yet.

“Every grower’s battling against the weather … we’re working to try and get our growers back on to plant their next crop.”
