Hundreds of people marched in the streets of Beirut, Lebanon, on Thursday to mark the second anniversary of the deadly 2020 port explosion, according to local media. This video shot by @Akhbaralsaha shows protesters on the streets. Local media reported that some protesters, including family members of the victims, were carrying white coffins bearing the names of the victims. Some protesters are shown with hands painted red. The protests also included a sit-in outside the French embassy in Beirut. Local news outlet Naharnet reported that a spokesperson for the family said French President Emmanuel Macron had “failed to live up to his promise and called on France to form an international fact-finding mission.” Another section of the harbor’s grain silo collapsed as protesters marched.
