Mount Kilimanjaro is the tallest single independent mountain in the world at a height of 19,443 feet (5926 meters).
The mountains of Tanzania, a country in East Africa, attract about 50,000 climbers annually.
“The weather is mild and there are no strong winds that could spread the fire to other areas,” said Alex Kisingo, Vice-Principal of the nearby African Wildlife Management University.
“The fire may have been contained earlier, but mountain fires are very sensitive,” he said, adding that no one was injured and private property was not affected.
