Jackie O. Henderson has joined calls to change the date of Australia Day, saying she supports the alternative of 26 January.
“I want to celebrate this country without shame,” Henderson told co-host Kyle Sandilands.
“I love this country and I’m really patriotic, so I want to be able to celebrate Australia,” Henderson said.
“I’m happy to change the date because I want to do it in a non-embarrassing way.”
Debate over whether to hold a public holiday to commemorate the arrival of Sir Arthur Phillip and the arrival of the First Fleet at Sydney Cove on 26 January has raged for years.
