Bruce Lehrmann trial: Linda Reynolds faced for Brittany Higgins’ transcript

Former Defense Secretary Linda Reynolds has been accused in the ACT Supreme Court of “coaching” a lawyer to act for the defendant during the trial of a man accused of raping Brittany Higgins.

Bruce Lehman He has been accused of sexually assaulting a former liberal staffer in the office of Senator Linda Reynolds in the early hours of March 23, 2019.

Lehrmann has pleaded not guilty to one count of nonconsensual sex.

Submit Evidence to the ACT Supreme CourtOn Oct. 6, Sen. Reynolds texted Mr. Lehrman’s defense attorneys, asking for a copy of Brittany Higgins’ evidence.

Prosecutor Shane Drumgold confronted Senator Reynolds with a text message to barrister Steve Whybrow in court.

He said they were sent at 4:47 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 6. Drumgold also revealed that Senator Reynolds’ partner was sitting in court throughout the trial.

“Did you know that Mr. Higgins has begun cross-examination?” Mr. Drumgold.

“You texted ‘Hi, do you have a daily transcript?’

Senator Reynolds said in court that this was correct.

“Yes, we did, but it was explained again that it was not appropriate,” she said.

Drumgold also told Senator Reynolds that she made a suggestion for cross-examination.

“What motivated you to try to guide cross-examination?” he asked.

“That’s not what I was trying to do,” Senator Reynolds replied.

“If there’s a text message between Brittany and Nicki, it could be revealed,” Drumgold said.

Nicky Hamer, former press secretary for Senator Reynolds, was working with Higgins in his office at the time of the incident.

“You’re warning defense attorneys two hours before cross-examination. You’re injecting yourself,” Drumgold said.

“I have never been through this process before,” Senator Reynolds told the court.

“You are clearly politically invested in the outcome of this trial,” Drumgold said.

Initially he suggested she was in Rwanda at the time.

“You are in Rwanda. Is there anything else you should do in Rwanda?” he said.

Senator Reynolds, however, revealed that she was actually in Perth.

At today’s tense hearing, Drumgold told the ACT Supreme Court today that Senator Reynolds’ partner was sitting in court during the trial.

He then confronted Senator Reynolds in court, claiming she had requested the minutes from her legal team.

“You searched for transcripts, didn’t you?” said Mr. Drumgold.

“Why? You arranged for your partner to sit in court.

Senator Reynolds did not secure the minutes because his lawyer said they were not suitable.

“My lawyer was very clear,” she said.
