Australia’s sovereign ability to manufacture nonsense

If only we could have a manufacturing facility for sovereign workers, the demand for manufacturing protectionism might not sound so silly.

Protectionism is making a comeback, and we have the same easy excuses to hurt ourselves. Or, for certain industries, launch missiles.

Shortly before the election, then-Defense Secretary Peter Dutton announced that Raytheon and Lockheed Martin would be “strategic partners” in a $1 billion Sovereign missile program.

Australia not only had to buy missiles, they had to manufacture them.
