Man charged with murder after shooting at farm in rural Queensland
Marvin and Marie Schwartz and Marie’s adult son Graham Tai were found dead of gunshot wounds on the property near Bogie yesterday.
Graham had just been introduced to his newborn son, his uncle told 9News.
The boy was ill and was being treated at Brisbane Hospital, so his father was only able to spend a few days with him before he died.
Marie’s other son, Ross Tai, survived after being seriously injured and called the police.
The family, who just moved into their $10 million sprawling property a year ago, is said to have gotten into an argument with a neighbor about the boundaries of the fence.
The man accused of pulling the trigger, Darryl Young, arranged a meeting at the gate between the two buildings yesterday morning, police said.
A 59-year-old man was charged this afternoon with three counts of murder and one count of attempted murder.
He will appear in the Proserpine Magistrate’s Court on August 8th.
Earlier, Queensland Police released details about how the tragedy unfolded.
The weapon used in the fatal shooting was a rifle, said Mackay District Superintendent Tom Armitt, who said the suspect had lived in the area for many years.
