New South Wales opposition leader sacks Frontbench MP over radio

New South Wales Opposition front-venture Tania Mihailuk lost her cabinet position on live radio this morning.

Opposition leader Chris Minns was speaking to Ben Fordham at 2GB about the recent actions of Bankstown MP Mihailuk.

Mihayluk had accused Carl Asfour, the New South Wales senatorial candidate and Mayor of Canterbury Bankstown, for links with corrupt former minister Eddie Obaid.

Mins said he told Mikhailuk that he could not use his parliamentary privileges to make such charges while he was a member of the shadow cabinet.

“I haven’t heard from her,” Minns said.

“So I have, reluctantly, come to the conclusion that she cannot stay in the shadow cabinet.”

Mihayluk has been named as the Shadow Minister for Natural Resources on the NSW Legislature website.

Asfour has dismissed Mihailuk’s claims.
