New South Wales police shoot a man on Hamlyn Terrace

New South Wales Police Deputy Secretary Max Mitchell told reporters that the dead man pointed a double-barreled long gun at the police.

“As a result, many police fired guns at the criminal, who is now dead,” said Mitchell.

He said police acted professionally when presented with life-threatening situations.

“In fact, given the behavior of criminals, I believe their behavior is very courageous,” he said.

Specialized tactical operations officers were called in from Sydney to assist with the accommodation’s major operations.

The dead have not yet been formally identified and the murderers will investigate a serious incident.

Police also pass information to coroners when the situation and cause of a man’s death is investigated.

When police arrived at the property, a vehicle allegedly stolen ignited.

Police warned the general public to avoid the area as the operation was underway. Deputy Secretary Mitchell urged nearby residents to stay in the house and wait for further updates from the media.

The nearby Warnervale Public School has been closed. Minnesota Road has been closed between Warnervale Road and the Pacific Highway.
