NRL: Sydney Roosters coach Trent Robinson says players demand more from each other

Shortly after Angus Crichton scored the Roosters’ third try early in the first half, prop Jared Walea Hargreaves turned and pointed at Walker, admonishing him for his previous play gone poorly.

Victor Radley also joined in, looking at No.7 and banging his head to say “think about it”.

Walker took his medication without complaint and continued to play a key role in important victories, successfully and truly keeping the Roosters in the final race.

Robinson was very happy to see the players criticizing each other’s performances in runs.

“Jared has coached as many players as I have, so that’s his role[on the field],” Robinson said.

“We care about how the game is played and feel we can do better.

“These guys are coaching each other to go ‘Come on. I want more Let’s go beyond that. don’t do that. Get better ”.

“We have more and the coaches aren’t going to decide that. It’s up to them on the field to decide.

“Thanks to what we’ve been talking about with Jared, our best is yet to come.

“Jared wanted more and Teddy[James Tedesco]talked about it with the team after the game[saying]’I like some, but I want more’.”

“But I’ve worked hard enough this year and tried different things, so I feel it’s time to play better.”

The Roosters finished round 21 in 7th or 8th place, hanging inside the top 8, but still have a chance at the coveted top 4 finish.

They will face North Queensland, West Tigers, Melbourne and South Sydney in the final month of the regular season.

Tedesco said: With maybe 10 teams within 4 points, it’s important for us to win and improve every week.

“We feel we have made a statement[against Brisbane]but we are still chasing an 80-minute performance.

“Learn lessons from tonight and look forward to next week.”
