Nunez wins Liverpool 2-2 draw

Liverpool attacked from behind twice to force promoted Fulham to a 2-2 draw. New signing Darwin Nunez came off the bench to score one goal and set up another.

Aleksandr Mitrovic led Fulham twice at Craven Cottage on Saturday as Marco Silva’s side threatened a big upset.

Nunez first met with a low cross from Mohamed Salah before putting it on top of the net with a deft back heel flick in the 64th minute to make it 1-1.

Nunez then tried to control a high cross into the box, but the ball fell into Salah’s path, who easily tapped in.

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson came close to winning stoppage time when a curling long-range shot hit the crossbar.

Mitrovic opened the scoring in the first half with a header before meeting a cross from the right at the far post. He also converted a penalty after being brought down by Virgil van Dijk.

Fulham had a chance to make it 2-0 when Neeskens Kebano hit the post from the right side of the area.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp opposed Nunez’s start, but Liverpool’s attack accelerated when Roberto Firmino was replaced.
