Olivia Newton-John’s daughter Chloe Rattanzi’s heartbreaking voicemail to Richard Wilkins

Richard Wilkins has revealed the heartbreaking voicemail that left him after Olivia Newton-John’s daughter sent an emotional tribute to the legendary star.

Newton-John died in California on Monday at the age of 73, surrounded by his family.

The entertainment world, and indeed much of Australia, mourned following the news.

Wilkins spoke on Tuesday’s Today Show about the Australian icon, leading her to voicemail her daughter, Chloe Rattanzi.

“Olivia’s daughter, Chloe Rattanzi, sent me a beautiful message today.

“And I said to her, ‘I will never do this without your permission. Why don’t you take your sweet message on air to a lot of her friends and fans?'”

“And she said, ‘Yes please. Tell them how much their love has helped me cope. i have you in my heart

Wilkins then read the message.

“Hello Richard, I’m Chloe. I just saw your beautiful tribute to my mother.

“I just wanted to hug you. I’ve seen how much you love her. I just want her to know that she’s now free, pain-free, and that her whole family is here.”

“She shines the sun, dogs run and smile, horses gallop.

“She is pain free now, I want her to know that she fought hard and I have been with her.”

“I felt your love. Mama and I love you very much.

“I love your friend, thank you for doing so.”

Wilkins was previously in tears as he was hugged by co-host Carl Stefanovic on Tuesday’s Channel Nine show.

“Today the world lost a beautiful human being,” said Wilkins.

Newton-John’s husband, John Easterling, confirmed the news by posting on social media that she was “a symbol of victory and hope.”

John Travolta, who co-starred with Newton-John in Grease, said her influence was “incredible” and he loved her “very much.”

She was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1992. Her breast cancer went into remission, but she had a relapse in 2013 and another in 2017.

At one point, she said she was in partial “denial” about the illness. Because if she dwells too much on her illness, it means she won’t “enjoy life.”
