One in three buyers considering property in Queensland comes from interstates, particularly Melbourne and New South Wales.


According to the latest data, one in three buyers considering property in Qld comes from the interstate (mainly New South Wales and Melbourne), with an additional 43% coming from the coast. .

New South Wales and Melbourne buyers are most involved in property surveys in Queensland, particularly the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast and Brisbane, said Little Hinge co-founder and CEO Josh Callahan.

“Interstate inspection rates have remained consistent since January, indicating that the trend for shoppers to shop outside their home country will continue,” he said.

“The number of people wanting to move to Queensland remains high, with a third of the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast and Brisbane receiving virtual inspections from the interstate.”

“Sellers tapping into the pool of southern buyers are able to charge higher prices even as the buyer market continues to soften.”

Lifestyle, weather, affordability and high yields all contribute to continued demand for Qld housing.


The Gold Coast has the highest interstate interest in the country, with almost 43% of buyer inspections coming from outside Queensland and 9% from offshore.

Callahan said distributors entering the unseen market could “take advantage of the influx of buyers from Sydney and Melbourne to achieve much higher prices.”

Sydney and Melbourne were the least popular for interstate inspections at 13.9% and 15.4% respectively.
