Oscar Pistorius begs for forgiveness of victim Reeva Steenkamp’s family
Paralympic Oscar Pistorius, who was imprisoned for 15 years for shooting his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, said he was anxious to have his best friend accept the apology.
His former principal, Bill Schroeder, 76, said Blade Runner stopped exercising, started smoking, had a big beard, and returned to God.
Mr Schroeder, who visited him four times in prison, said Sun Sunday: “Forgive him what he really really wants.
“If he killed my daughter, I didn’t think I would forgive him, I told him.
“He is more interested in forgiveness than he is actually on parole. In fact, he is really afraid to get parole because he knows that parole will be a backlash.”
Pistorius (33) shot down model Riva (29) in a bathroom in Pretoria, South Africa on Valentine’s Day 2013.
She went to the bathroom, but Pistorius believed she was a thief, woke up in bed and claimed to have fired.
He has been in an unsafe prison in Pretoria for 13 years and 5 months.
Schroeder said: “He still claims to have been an accident. I felt he regretted.
“He quoted an expert study when you woke up from a deep sleep and were placed in a situation where you were afraid to behave very differently than when you were completely conscious. I heard what you said, but didn’t buy it. “
In 2018, Riva’s mother, then 71, forgave Pistorius but said she still wanted to punish him.
