Residents donate flowers and thank firefighters for eradicating wildfires in eastern Ukraine

According to the Severodonetsk Civil Affairs Bureau, residents of the Ukrainian city of Severodonetsk were found on October 10 to thank firefighters for their successful fight against wildfires in the country’s Luhansk region. A fire covering an estimated 20,000 hectares (49,421 acres) burned homes and killed 11 people. According to local reports, all wildfires in the area were extinguished as of October 8. Live-streamed footage from the civilian government of Seberodnetk on Facebook shows that locals are thanking firefighters and giving flowers. Unlike the rest of the Luhansk region, the city of Severodonetsk is under the control of the Ukrainian government, which has fought against Russian-backed separatists in the region.Credit: Civil administration of Seberodnetsk via Storyful
