Sailor survived 16 hours in capsized boat before rescue off Spain

A 62-year-old French sailor has been rescued from the waters off Spain after surviving for 16 hours in air bubbles beneath a capsized boat, local media reported. According to La Opinion Coruna, around 8pm on Monday, August 1st, Jeanne Soloe’s boat named Sailor capsized. The boat was initially inaccessible to divers due to rough sea conditions. The boat’s sole occupant, Laurent Campurbi, was rescued around noon Tuesday, media said. A video released by Salvamento Maritimo, the Spanish maritime search and rescue agency, shows the rescue. Salvamento Maritimo said the ship is 14 miles from the Cisargas Islands to her.
