Suspect detained by police after shooting 3 dead in Bogey, Queensland | SBS News

A person believed to have shot three people dead on rural Queensland land has been taken into custody as details of a potential motive for the murders are slowly coming to light.
The suspect is one of three people currently in police custody, and a fourth victim continues to recover in hospital after being shot in the abdomen.
The victims are all from the same family and are named in multiple media reports as Marvin and Marie Schwartz, and Marie’s son Graham Tye.
Graham’s brother Ross Tai is recovering in hospital and was questioned by police overnight, Metropolitan Police Department Deputy Tom Armitt told Channel Nine on Friday.

“What we do know is that the parties involved were neighbors and that some sort of conversation took place between the parties.

Neighbors are believed to have met at the property boundary early Thursday morning when the incident occurred.
The injured man managed to flee the scene and raise the alarm before being airlifted to McKay Base Hospital for surgery on Thursday night for serious injuries.
No charges have been filed and detectives are expected to speak to the injured man again on Friday morning.
Police have cordoned off the area around the ranch in Bogie, northwest of Mackay, where a suspected shooting occurred.
Whitsundays MP Mike Blanker told the Seven Network on Friday that the small community will be relieved that the suspect is in custody.

“I think these people just moved here from the West 12 months ago…it’s just a tragic situation,” he said.
