Trump Supreme Court Candidate Amy Coney Barrett Avoids Abortion Question

Barrett, as in any other case, usually applies when judges consider whether to overturn the case when answering questions about abortion legalized by the Supreme Court in the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision. He said he would consider various factors.

Senator Dianne Feinstein, a top Democrat on the panel, asked Barrett if she believed that the Roe v. Wade case, which recognized the constitutional rights of women to have an abortion, was properly decided. She refused to answer.

Feinstein told Barrett that it was “obstructive” that she didn’t give an answer.

Religious conservatives want the Supreme Court to overturn the Roe v. Wade case.

Barrett promised to follow the rules binding the judge when considering whether to overturn the case.

“I promise to do it for problems that arise, abortions, and other problems. I obey the law,” Barrett said.

Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, chairman of the committee, sets aside her religious beliefs in making a decision as justice to Barrett, a devout Catholic and religious conservative favorite. I asked if I could do it.

“I can,” Barrett said.

Barrett called the late Judge Antonin Scalia, who was the secretary 20 years ago, a mentor, but said he would not necessarily rule in the same way as him.

“Instead of getting Judge Scalia, you’re going to get Judge Barrett, because the originalists don’t always agree,” she said.

Barrett sat alone at the table facing the Senator.

Barrett was appointed by Trump for a lifetime post in court on September 26, replacing the late liberal judge Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
