“This campaign is targeted in terms of spending to reflect the reality that not all parts of Australia are currently travelable,” he told ABC Radio National.
“But other parts of Australia have open borders in various jurisdictions, and one in thirteen people in Australia depends on our tourism industry, so people plan their vacation, I would like you to start making reservations and starting.
“Once we are ready to enter the Victorian market and we can do it, we will step into the Victorian market. We hope it will be as soon as possible.”
Birmingham said the tourism industry, a major employer, is essential to the country’s economic recovery.
“Australian people are already showing great enthusiasm to leave the big cities, jump into cars and make road trips within just a few hours from their homes,” he said.
“What we want you to think about after this summer vacation is to book a real vacation. Here it takes a week or two to jump on a plane and people from airlines, hotels, car rental operators and tour operators. Support your work .. “
