Police have fined 64 Victorian people who violated COVID-19 restrictions in the last 24 hours.
Victorian police reported several overnight examples of people caught in a car for “going out for a drive” more than 5 kilometers from their home.
After being caught traveling by car together in the Monash district, three men with different addresses were also fined and told police that they had visited a friend’s house to watch a movie. No one was wearing a mask.
Fourteen were fined for not wearing masks and 17 were arrested at a vehicle checkpoint for violating the instructions of the Chief Health Officer.
Police conducted 1831 spot checks on people in homes, businesses, and public places throughout the state, bringing the number of spot checks performed since March 21 to 494,674.
