Washington State Roads: Fatal Safety Bay motorcycle crash extends weekend of state driver scare

A weekend of terror ensued on the roads of Western Australia after a motorcycle rider died in a tragic crash south of Perth.

The Harley-Davidson rider was driving on Safety Bay Road when he left the tarmac around 2:00 am on Sunday and struck a utility pole near the Malibu Road intersection.

The 44-year-old rider suffered devastating injuries and died at the scene.

There have been four fatalities on Washington state roads this weekend.

On Friday night, in Condinin, 280 kilometers east of Perth in the Wheatvelt, the woman behind the wheel of a Ford Fiesta died after she slammed her car into a tree.

The 23-year-old driver was traveling west along Koligin Kondinin Road near Skyes Road around 11:45 when the tragedy struck.

She was seriously injured and died on the spot.

Meanwhile, a 50-year-old man was killed Friday night after his car hit a billboard and was slammed into a car at an entertainment venue in the southern suburbs of Perth.

Authorities said the Holden Commodore and Toyota Hilux collided while driving down South Street approaching Stock Road in O’Connor at about 7:15 pm, resulting in a tragic series of events.

Witnesses described the terrifying moment when the Commodore hurtled through the air, narrowly missing a gas station and flipping over and over again as it crashed into a nearby store.

“I was standing there in shock and thinking, ‘What happened?'” says Dev Mankar.

“When I heard the crash… I looked out the window and saw the car flip over,” Manker added.

“It was a very fast crash… lots of air time.”

The 47-year-old man driving the Toyota escaped with minor injuries.
