Floods cut power in Vega, endangering 2 million liters of milk

“This impacts not only our manufacturing facilities, but our suppliers and our employees,” Reed said. “At the moment, many people are unable to stay at home and are basically submerged.”

Flooding has closed many roads in Shepperton, and thousands of Victorians have been warned that the flooding could keep them closed for up to a week.

The Vega plant, located in Stratherton, about an hour north of Shepperton, has not been significantly affected by the flooding.

Reid praised Powercor’s support in trying to bring power back to the area. At the time of publication, the Electricity Grid’s website indicated that power outages continued around Swanhill, Shepperton, Rochester and Winchelsea, about 30 minutes from Geelong.

“I applaud the efforts they are making to bring power back to the region,” Reid said.

According to Powercor’s website, the Tatura power outage is estimated to be restored at 6 p.m. Saturday.
