Fremantle Dockers reveal 2023 Jaeger O’Meara jumper numbers, teasing Luke Jackson and Josh Corbett

Fremantle have revealed the new recruit number that Jaeger O’Meara will wear for the 2023 season.

The former Hawthorn No. 10 has been upgraded to No. 2 by the Dockers after the departure of swingman Griffin Rogue, who signed with North Melbourne during the AFL trade.

It was previously worn by former midfield coach Josh Kerr, who played 83 games between 2005 and 2008. Kerr recently left Dockers to take up his role at another former club, Port Adelaide.

Fremantle has hinted that numbers for Luke Jackson, who wore number 6 at Melbourne, and Josh Corbett, who wore number 19 for the Gold Coast Suns, will be announced soon.

There is speculation that Jackson could be honored with the Dockers’ famous jersey number 29, but this hasn’t been seen on the field since club legend Matthew Pavlich retired after 353 games. .

Midfielder Luke Valente was given a number ahead of the 2019 season, but retired in January of this year after failing to make appearances at senior level.

After Blake Akers vacated, Jackson could have opted to wear the Dockers’ number 9 jersey, but Blake Akers moved to Carlton during the trade period and idolized West Coast ruckman Nick Naitanui as a junior. did.

Corbett, meanwhile, could retain his Suns jersey number, with the number 19 vacated by delisted midfielder Conor Blakely.

Also of note is the jumper number of retired Fremantle legend and club game record holder David Mundy.

No. 16, the mandy’s purple jersey for 376 games, is now ownerless as reigning champion Docker retired at the end of the 2022 season.

It’s possible that Dockers could have “rested” the number, as they did with Pablich’s No.29.

Darcy Tucker’s No. 18, previously worn by club great Luke McFerrin, and Rory Robb’s No. 37, previously worn by Michael Johnson, are also available after the pair trade.

Delisted duo Mitch Crowden number 12 and Joel Western number 34 could also be available for the 2023 season.
