Perth’s mountain biking hill trails are deadly

“Riding the Black Diamond Trail requires all levels of skill.There can be rocks, elevations, drop-offs and jumps.”

The mountain bike rider, who asked not to release his name, said the death was horrifying news and a reminder that the canyon’s trails can be extremely dangerous.

“Most of the trails are minimal black trails, but with no signage, it’s easy to get lost or injured, especially if you’ve never seen a technical trail feature before, so don’t go there without knowing your way around. Don’t ride on them,” he said.

“I have fallen a few times, so I usually wear a full-face helmet and knee pads when I ride there. I enjoy it, it’s all part of improving my bike skills and it’s fun.”

The police prepare a report for the coroner.
