Prime Minister Daniel Andrews pledges VCE support to flood-affected families

As a result, Prime Minister Daniel Andrews said students affected by the floods will receive help and support for their school graduation exams.

He said “derived test scores” would be approved on a case-by-case basis and would help take the pressure off students and families.

“Make sure it’s only your effort and resilience that contributes to your final score, the ATAR, and not the challenges you’re facing right now,” said Andrews.

“Teachers are also affected by the floods, so it will be very difficult for students who cannot stay at home and study remotely.

“Schools have been affected by the floods. More than 80 of them have been closed. Automatic application of derivative exams means students are not at a disadvantage.”

Today, 59 early learning centers have also closed in Victoria.

In response, Andrews said families directly affected by the floods will be able to send their children aged 3 and 4 to kindergarten for the fourth trimester free of charge.

“We are supporting critical early childhood education services and stepping in to help families with kindergarten children,” he said.
