The moment I found out: I came home a few days late after my vacation from hell to find 30 deflated balloons.relationship

In the n thesis, we should not work. Nico – A construction worker from Italy who likes fashion, good coffee and late nights fueled by Negronis. Me – Writer and blogger from the UK. The ideal bedtime is before 9pm. My weak iced oat latte order is a sore point in our relationship, and I can’t stand the taste of Campari.

we met on the street Bondi A sunny Sunday afternoon in February. It was thanks to his shirt: a bright Zara number covered in books. This unlikely collaboration between Spanish fashionable fast-fashion brand and French publisher Assouline has us chatting .

He took me out for a drink the following weekend and we spent the entire Sunday together, getting to know each other in a sun-drenched haze of prosecco and pizza. I saw him again two nights later and two days later. He took me to a candlelit Italian restaurant in Darlinghurst. As the night wore on we talked about everything, but our basic desire to stay in Australia longer, our love of Italian food, and our weaknesses with dogs.

The next day I flew to Byron with my best friend Ella for my 30th birthday party. What was supposed to be a two-night stay turned into a lingering nightmare as flood waters engulfed the streets of the town. Stayed 3 nights longer than expected due to moving. Felt like 30 by the time we left.

I arrived home cold, exhausted, broken and bone tired. I got a call from Nico telling me he was on his way. Drop off your luggage and go to the sunroom. It contained 30 slightly deflated balloons, a bunch of wilted flowers, a box of chocolates, and a card with “Welcome back Lucy” scribbled inside. That’s when it hit me: I was back in Bondi after a vacation from hell – to a man who felt like home, not just my apartment.

We became a couple briefly and settled into our new rhythm of life together. It just feels right and you know it’s good enough.

They have nothing in common, but for some reason they work.

We’ve only been dating for less than seven months, but my love for Nico grows with each passing day. I love his quickness and fiery nature, his easy charm, his passion, his exuberance. He is the most romantic man I have ever met. Not only are they outrageously funny, but most importantly, they are the kindest.
